In a swift move to bolster Kwara United’s chances on the continental stage, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has ordered the immediate renovation of the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Innih Stadium, Ilorin, in preparation for the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.

The directive comes just days after an inspection visit by officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), who highlighted key upgrades needed to meet Confederation of African Football (CAF) standards ahead of the preliminary rounds of the competition.

The renovation is expected to enable Kwara United play their home matches in Ilorin this time, unlike in 2022 when the club was forced to host all its CAF Confederation Cup games at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena in Lagos due to facility shortcomings.

Already, contractors have mobilised to site and commenced preliminary works, especially on the pitch surface, as the club gears up for both the new Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season and its continental campaign.

Kwara United is scheduled to open its NPFL season at home against Ikorodu City on Sunday, August 24, 2025.
