KANO – The Kano state government on Thursday, imposed a dusk to dawn curfew to enable the security agents quell the widespread violence, and looting that rocked the ancient city of Kano.
The nationwide’s protest in a city of 20 million dwellers had kicked peacefully with thousands of able bodied citizens that poured into the streets in and around Kano metropolis before hoodlums armed with weapons of war hijacked the civil disobedience.
Addressing newsmen at the Government House after previewing the 5 hours of mayhem in the city, the Kano state governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf said “After exhaustive security meetings with security Heads it was agreed to impose 24 hours curfew to check the uprising.”
Similarly therefore, “Based on the power vested on me by Nigeria constitution as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I hereby declared 24 hour curfew in the state to protect life, and property “
The governor called on residents to remain vigilant and continue working together to live in harmony, as the governor ordered the security agents to ensure total compliance
