LAGOS – The Ekiti State Government Executive Council has approved the proposal of the State Ministry of Arts, Culture and Creative Economy to build a new cultural centre in the state.
A statement by the ministry said that the conceptualised and uniquely designed edifice would be sited at the piece of land adjoining the Old Water Works Ureje in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.
Prof. Rasaki Bakare, the Commissioner for Arts, Culture and Creative Economy, expressed delight with the approval.
Bakare also lauded Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, the State Governor for supporting the ministry in its developmental goals.
“Governor, Mr. Biodun Abayomi Oyebanji, who is supporting us like a rock of Gibraltar. With BAO backing us, success is assured. We are building a real cultural village, not another usual glass house.
“This concept is unique and will attract visitors from all over the world.”
He said that the contract was awarded to Messrs Adedokun Alade and Company, led by Engr. Folusho Alade.
