The Erelu of Apataland, Barr.Fumilayo Schule, has appealed to the people of kogi state to give maximum support to the administration of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to enable him tackle the escalating insecurity, Banditry, crimes and other development challenges facing the state.
Barr. Schule made the appeal on Friday while fielding questions from Journalists in Lokoja, Kogi state capital.
The Erelu of Apata noted that Gov. Ododo ‘s administration has made serious in roads in the developmental project across,the sectors of the state , however noted that more support is needed to sustain the momentum.
She explained that the present government under the watch of Governor Ododo has demonstrated political will to eliminate insecurity in Oworo land, and kogi State in general, a feat that is in tandem with section 14 of 1999 Nigerian Constitution as amended .which places security of lives of citizenry at the doorstep of government.
While acknowledging the efforts of the governor for the deployment of members of the Nigerian Army, Nigeria Security and civil Defense Corps, Police and local vigilante groups to flash points communities, charged him to sustain the momentum to totally eliminate the hoodlums.
she added that if the actions of government are sustained, it will boost the socio-economics wellbeing of the people at grassroots as farmers will go to their farms without fear of attacks thereby boosting food security and reduce hunger, poverty and underdevelopment.
” According to her, neighbouring states of Niger, Nasarawa, Benue and other troubled states in the far north should take a study tour and envolve peer review mechanism by emulating the security architectures of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo to tackle headlong the security threats in their States”
The Erelu of Apata land commended the governor for his timely assent to the bill preventing heavy duty trucks’ from passing through the state in day time, saying, the far reaching legislation will definitely reduce carnage at the junctions of federal University and Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja.
She praised the traditional rulers in Apataland; the Olu Apata land , Oba Fredrick Balogun, Bajana of Obajana, Oba Idowu Isenebi, Massi of Oworo and the Olu of Oshokosoko land for their continued mobilisation of their subjects for the promotion of security, peace and unity that has fostered development in their respective domains.
She averred that security of lives and property should be a collective responsibility of citizenry, hence, accurate and timely information about activities of men and women of the underworld are made available to security agencies to flush them out.
