#IfunanyaNwangene, a 26-year-old Nigerian singer and architect who gained recognition after appearing on season 3 of #TheVoice #Nigeria, died on January 31 after being bitten by a snake while asleep in her Abuja home. According to reports from BBC Africa and statements from her choir, Amemuso Choir, she woke up from the bite and sought treatment at a nearby clinic, but antivenom was unavailable, leading her to a hospital where she passed away. Two snakes were later discovered in her residence, with footage showing one being removed. Nwangene, originally from Enugu, had built a following through her audition performance of Rihanna’s “Take a Bow” and shared covers and original music online, including a recent collaboration. At the time of her death, she was preparing for her first solo concert in 2026, and tributes from collaborators highlighted her talent, energy, and impact on the Nigerian music scene, describing her loss as heartbreaking and irreplaceable.
