Farmers in the agrarian community, Kungaboku, in the Bwari Area Council, Abuja are asking the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, to come to their assistance in constructing its access road.
Kungaboku is largely a farming hub which supplies a significant percentage of food and agro allied products for Abuja and its environs.
The community also noted that the place is lacking in essential services like potable water.
Residents of this predominantly farming community expressed their plea in an interview on Monday, emphasising the need to prevent isolation due to the deteriorating state of their access road.
Zephaniah Moses, the community’s youth leader, highlighted the challenges caused by heavy rains, which often flood the road, necessitating hours of waiting for the water to recede before movement can resume.
Moses stressed the necessity for a bridge over the river and requested support for potable water supply and the repair of the local LEA Primary School, where storm damage has compromised classroom infrastructure.
Rafiu Akintoye, a longstanding resident and farmer in Kungaboku, recounted the community’s struggles with the road, citing incidents of vehicles being swept away by the river during rainy seasons.
He described the community as peaceful but underscored the urgent need for road repairs, alongside rehabilitation of the primary healthcare center, which currently lacks adequate staff and medication.

Anna Jonah, a poultry farmer, lamented the road’s impact on her business, citing transportation challenges that inflate costs and deter potential buyers.
Omerigwe Bartholomew, a former youth service participant turned farmer, highlighted the economic repercussions of inadequate infrastructure, urging authorities to address road conditions, healthcare services, and water access to enhance agricultural productivity and attract youth involvement in farming initiatives.
