In a move to curb incessant gridlock caused by fuel queues, the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has deployed operatives to monitor traffic around fuel stations across the state.
This is contained in a statement signed by the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, on Sunday.
The statement revealed that the General Manager of LASTMA, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, had issued a warning to motorists who are queuing to purchase fuel at various filling stations leading to severe traffic congestion affecting other road users.

โThe General Manager of LASTMA, Mr. Olalekan Bakare-Oki, gave this warning today as he deployed additional officers to monitor traffic around fuel stations across the State.
โMr. Bakare-Oki explained that this increased deployment is necessary due to reports of long queues at filling stations caused by motorists who park indiscriminately, blocking roads as they wait to purchase fuel.โ
The statement revealed Bakare-Oki emphasised the importance of efficient traffic management as a crucial factor for creating a smooth and integrated transportation network in Lagos as he called for public support towards the new directive.
It added, โHe reiterated that effective traffic management is essential for achieving a seamless multi-modal transportation system in Lagos.
โMr. Bakare-Oki also called for full cooperation from the public to ensure that the โT.h.e.m.e.s +โ agenda of the current administration results in positive socio-economic development and enhanced security of lives and property.
โHe further urged the public, particularly motorists, to make use of LASTMAโs newly inaugurated toll-free call centre at 080000527862 for complaints, comments, and commendations.โ
