The Minister of Works, Engr Dave Umahi, has mourned the late renowned preacher, Uma Ukpai, and described him as a teacher of the gospel and a man of immovable faith.

The late Reverend Ukpai, until his death, preached the gospel with decades of unwavering devotion.

Engr Dave Umahi, in a condolence he personally signed, expressed shock over the demise of Rev Ukpai, stressing that his passing has created a vacuum that hurts deeply.

He said: “I received with a deep sense of loss the sad news of the passing of the Founder and President of Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), Rev Dr Uma Ukpai, which occurred on the 6th day of October 2025 at the age of 80 years.

“Late Uma Ukpai was a renowned preacher and teacher of the gospel whose insightful sermons helped in shaping the spiritual journey of many Christians worldwide. He was a man of immovable faith who preached the gospel of Christ with decades of unwavering devotion. He shall be remembered for his untiring commitment towards promoting the flourishing of the word of God.

“He continued to preach the gospel of Christ until the last day when he was ushered into the glorious presence of his heavenly Father.

“With the Christian faithful around the globe, we join our hearts in solidarity and empathy with the bereaved family at this solemn moment as we offer our prayers for the repose of his soul. May his gentle soul rest in perfect peace. Amen.”

The Works Minister further requested the family of the deceased Ukpai to take solace in the fact that the evangelist lived a Godly life that touched many lives positively.

He stressed, “Please accept the heartfelt condolences and compassion of my family, the management, and staff of the Federal Ministry of Works.”
