PORT HARCOURT – Tragedy occurred on Wednesday at a popular wine bar located at Gas Turbine road, Rumuekini, Obio/Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers state when an electrician simply identified as Austin was electrocuted while carrying out electrical maintenance inside the ceiling of the bar.
Daily Independent gathered that the bar staff were thrown into confusion as the electrician said to hail from Kogi state suddenly started convulsing after he was electrocuted.
Our Correspondent learnt that it took the intervention of some concerned neighbours to raised the alarm after they learnt about the incident which prompted the management to immediately alert the Choba Police Division.
It was gathered that shortly afterwards, some officers were drafted to the scene to retrieve the corpse of the electrician, as well as carry out a preliminary investigation at the scene.
When contacted, the Public Relations Officer for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko confirmed the incident.
She said, “Yes I can confirm the incident. Police officers from Choba Police had visited the scene for preliminary investigation, while further investigation is still on.
“The corpse of the deceased has been deposited in the mortuary.”
