Victor Moses, a former Chelsea utility ace and Nigerian international, has returned to England after eight years to don the colours of Championship side Luton Town.
The 33-year-old, who last played for Spartak Moscow, joined the Hatters on Wednesday as a free agent on a permanent contract subject to international clearance.
Moses was excited after putting pen to paper and claiming squad number seven with the Hatters.
โIโm looking forward to it,โ he said in his first interview with LTFC+.
โI had a few offers from Europe, but I said to my agent that I set my mind on staying over here, and here we are. Iโm very pleased and honoured to be at this club, and I just canโt wait to get going.
โI spoke to Rob before I came; I spoke to the directors, and they told me the plan and the history of the club, and I just want to be part of the success.
โI want to come here and enjoy my football, work hard for the club and for the team, and get back to where we belong in the Premier League.โ
Speaking about the playerโs unveiling on Wednesday, Luton Town manager Rob Edwards said, โVictor is one weโve been talking to for quite a while. He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game, and we made a decision because we think heโs able to come in and help us.
โHe gives us more strength in depth and versatility because heโs someone who can play both sides or as a number ten.โ
โHeโs played for so many different clubs in different ways and shapes and under different managers, so heโs tactically aware. We think heโs someone who can provide some really good competition for us.โ
Moses spent a major part of his career in England, donning the colours of Crystal Palace, Wigan Athletic, Chelsea, Liverpool, Stoke City, and West Ham United from 2007 to 2016 when he ventured abroad to play for Fenerbahรงe, Inter Milan, and Spartak Moscow.
Born in Kaduna, Moses represented England at age-grade levels before switching allegiance to Nigeria, scoring 12 goals in 38 outings with the Super Eagles from 2012 to 2018.
He was a member of the 2013 AFCON-winning team and a key member of the 2018 World Cup squad in Russia and retired from international football after the Mundial.
