Fresh from the Big Brother Naija house, Kolapo Omotosho known as Kola radiates the calm confidence of someone who stayed true to his roots in the whirlwind of fame. Known for the tight bond he shared with his fellow housemate Imisioluwa, the season’s winner, In this exclusive chat with TOMI FALADE, he opens up about life inside the house, lessons learned, his next big moves, and why he’s now officially a pepper person.
How does it feel that you were in the Big Brother house?
It felt amazing, well it’s a social experiment, it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity. I came in as myself and I’m happy I left as myself as well. I was true to myself and I believed that I know the kind of family I was coming from, and that was the whole foundation of who I am as a person.
Everybody comes to Big Brother to win, at what point did you feel that you might not be the emerging winner?
I always felt I wanted to win, I felt I was going to win, but at the end I was hoping my sister Imisioluwa would win as well. She cared for me in the house, she was always there for me, she rooted for me even in my lowest times in the house. I’m grateful I left the house having a sister.
What was the most challenging part of being in the house that we the viewers don’t get to see?
I am a family-oriented person, I literally talk to my parents every single day, so for me not having to speak with them nor even hearing their voices at all made me realize that I miss my family.
Which relationship would you say you loved the most and the one you regret in the house?
I love the relationship with Imisi the most and I don’t regret any relationship. I am a positive person, like I said I came from love and that is all I’ve been known for and cared about. People make it seem like being an emotional person is not quite good but my family made me know that it is my strength and I ensured it never left me.
What if Imisi was not in the house, do you think you would have a chance of winning?
We came on the show to win the money, but the most important thing was that I was a winner regardless. I’m grateful that I made it to the finals, everyone could see the shock on my face. I’m surprised and happy that my sister Imisioluwa Arike won the money.
So what’s next?
I’m a fashion enthusiast, I love to dress up and style grooms for their weddings. I want them to also have the attention that they deserve as well. I’m also an aspiring TV host and actor. I was a brand content creator before the show so I’ll continue with that and I want to expand my coast as much as possible. I don’t want to limit myself and that’s the beauty of life.
If BBNaija calls for another All-Star show for past winners?
I’ll certainly be there.
With your sister?
“Ahh”, if we aren’t there together, then who should come back?
Do we see you taking over for Ebuka
Ebuka has been somebody that I admire a lot, he is a mentor to me. We’ll be summing our loft to do one day being a host of Big Brother as well.
What of Nollywood?
Yeah, I want to be an actor, it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I was a 9-5 person and I needed to get more visibility and exposure. I’m grateful for this platform, it is an amazing platform and I’m always going to root for this platform.
What’s the most shocking part of fame, you’ve been out for 48 hours?
I can’t answer that question yet because I’m still overwhelmed with everything that has been going on and at the same time I’m very grateful for it.
Despite your sister being a pain in the neck, what has kept both of you going?
I’m a lover of God, we both have fear of God, we prayed together, we both love Yoruba gospel music. She sings Yoruba gospel music a lot and it melts my heart. And there’s this intonation that comes with Tope Alabi, then you know how Adeyinka Alaseyori sings. She gave me that connection to my roots, because growing up my dad played Yoruba gospel music in the house and that was something I loved so much.
So you’re now a pepper person?
My sister, I am a pepper person now officially. I was someone who doesn’t eat too much pepper, I hate a lot of pepper, but right now “Omo if she put 20 atarodo I will eat it”.
