Veteran Nigerian actor Olu Jacobs will be laid to rest on Friday, October 2, 2026.
His family has planned a Night of Tributes and funeral service to mark his life and decades of work in Nigeria’s film industry.
The funeral service will start at 10am at This Present House on Freedom Way, Lekki Phase 1, Lagos.
The family has asked guests to wear shades of green.
Before the burial, a Night of Tributes will happen on Wednesday, September 30, at 4pm at Glover Memorial Hall on Marina Road, Lagos Island.
The dress code for that event is shades of blue.
Jacobs’ widow, actress Joke Silva, has formally asked President Bola Tinubu to attend the funeral.
In a letter dated September 23, Silva thanked the President for his condolence message after Jacobs’ d£ath and for recognizing the late actor’s work in Nigeria’s creative industry.
She said the President’s message and prayers brought comfort to the family during the hard time.
Silva invited Tinubu to the Night of Tributes and funeral service to celebrate Jacobs’ life, his work in the Nigerian film industry and the mark he left behind.
The family said Jacobs gave more than five decades to the arts and helped build Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
Silva said the President’s presence would be a great honour to the family and would mean much to them as they gather to pay final respects to a man who devoted over five decades to the arts and to enriching Nigeria’s cultural heritage.
