Operatives of the Federal Capital Territory Police Command have arrested four suspects involved in a one-chance robbery and attempted kidnapping, rescuing two victims during a daring operation in Abuja.
The suspects – Solomon Tanko, Samuel Audu, Chigozie Joseph, and Emmanuel Chidiebere – were nabbed in the early hours of 9th October 2025 in Dape Village after a heated confrontation with police operatives.
A statement issued on Sunday by the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, SP Josephine Adeh, revealed that the operation followed a distress call received at Life Camp Police Station around 10:09 p.m. on 8th October 2025.
According to Adeh, the female caller had reported that she was abducted by hoodlums who demanded a ransom of ₦1,000,000.
“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives from Life Camp Division immediately swung into action.
“Through the deployment of digital and tactical intelligence, the suspects were arrested around 4:30 a.m. the following day,” Adeh stated.
The statement partly read: “Two victims were rescued during the operation. One of them, who suffered multiple stab wounds, was rushed to Gwarinpa General Hospital and is currently receiving treatment.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the gang had terrorised areas around Bannex and Kado, disguising as commercial drivers using a tinted vehicle to lure unsuspecting passengers.
“The suspects confessed to robbing six victims – both male and female – prior to their arrest.
“Items recovered from the suspects include 15 international passports, two sharp daggers, two cutlasses, bloodstained documents, four mobile phones, two hammers, and three biros.
“The suspects will be charged to court upon conclusion of the ongoing investigation.”
Commending the swift response of Life Camp police officers, the FCT Commissioner of Police urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities promptly.
He assured the public of the Command’s unwavering commitment to the safety and security of all residents.
