The Kano State Police Command has expressed satisfaction with the peaceful conduct of residents in the ongoing re-run elections in the affected areas in the state.
The state Commissioner of Police, Usaini Gumel, told newsmen on Saturday that the exercise is currently going on peacefully.
Gumel said the police and other sister security agencies in the state were working hard to ensure a crisis-free election.
The police boss said, โWe have mobilised sufficient armed personnel to provide security before, during and after the election exercise.โ
He added that the security personnel were out en masse to ensure a peaceful conduct of the re-run elections in the 60 polling units across the three constituencies of the six local government areas.
He noted that the command would deploy additional security personnel to the Kunchi/Tsanyawa constituency to ensure peaceful election conduct.
The CPโs visit to the constituency might not be unconnected with the reported disruption of the election process in Kunchi Local Government Areas involving 10 polling units.
However, the Independent National Electoral Commission had said it was investigating election disruptions that occurred during the rerun/by-elections in Enugu, Akwa-Ibom and Kano states.
The commission disclosed this via its X handle on Saturday.
โIn Kunchi/Tsanyawa State Constituencies of Kano State, processes have been disrupted in Kunchi Local Government Area involving 10 Polling Units.
โWe will provide regular updates on the situation,โ the commissionย stated.
