LAGOS – The police in Jigawa State rescued an alleged motorcycle thief from angry youths in Kazaure Local Government Area.
A resident informed that the incident occurred at Shaiskawa quarters on Tuesday.
According to the source, the community laid a trap for the thief due to the recurring theft incidents in the area and successfully apprehended the suspect during an attempted motorcycle theft.
He mentioned, “Due to this, the enraged youths subjected him to severe beating before being rescued by the police.”
The command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, verified the incident in a statement issued.
He said on the 30th of August 2024 around 8:00 pm, news from a trustworthy source revealed that Ibrahim Sadik, a suspected motorcycle thief, was captured at Sha’iskawa Quarters in Kazaure LGA.
Regrettably, an enraged mob assaulted the suspect during the incident.
The police team in Kazaure promptly responded to the crime scene upon receiving the report, managing to rescue the injured suspect.
The individual was then transported to the hospital for medical care.
The individual confessed to arriving in Kazaure town on market day with the intent to steal a motorcycle,” as per his statement.
The police representative mentioned that the suspect was taken to court to face prosecution.
