The Police in Sokoto State said the full enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit requirement for motorists will commence on Thursday, October 2, 2025.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ahmad Rufai, in a statement on Tuesday, said vehicle owners who require permits are expected to complete their registration through the official portal before the enforcement date.
He said the grace period granted to motorists is to enable them to complete their applications in line with the Motor Vehicles (Prohibition of Tinted Glass) Act of 2004.
Accordingvto him, โThe Command strongly advises members of the public to conduct all transactions only through the official portal at possap.gov.ng and be wary of unauthorised individuals who may attempt to exploit this process for personal gain.โ
The PPRO explained that the application process involves creating an account using either the National Identification Number (NIN), Bank Verification Number (BVN), or Tax Identification Number (TIN), followed by account verification, entry of vehicle details, document upload, payment, and final verification through inspection and biometric capture.
โFor applicants in Sokoto, biometric capturing will be conducted at the State Intelligence Department (SID), State Headquarters, Gwandu Road, Sokoto. The exercise is free of charge.โ
He added that the police remain committed to transparency, accountability, and ensuring the safety of citizens and road users across the state.
