Chief Ganiyu Kola Egunjobi, a Renewed Hope Ambassador for Agege Federal Constituency in Lagos State and former Chairman of Agege Local Government Area, has expressed strong support for the administration of President Bola Tinubu, citing improvements across key sectors of the economy and governance.
Speaking with journalists, Egunjobi said Nigeria is making steady progress under Tinubu’s leadership, noting that while the country may not have reached its desired destination, it is “on the path to the promised land.”
“President Bola Tinubu has done a good job. Nigeria under his leadership is getting better in many facets. It may not be Eldorado, but we have left Egypt en route to the promised land,” he said.
He highlighted reforms in the education sector as one of the administration’s major achievements, particularly the introduction of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).
“Prior to this administration, it was common for indigent students to drop out of higher institutions due to financial constraints. But now the narrative has changed,” he stated, noting that the scheme now covers tuition fees for students in public tertiary institutions.
Egunjobi also pointed to renewed attention to technical and vocational education.
“Once upon a time, government treated technical and vocational education with disdain,” he said. “But under this administration, technical colleges and vocational institutions are getting the attention they deserve.”
He added that students in such institutions now enjoy free education alongside a monthly stipend. “As I speak, the federal government gives free education in its technical colleges and vocational centres, while each student receives N45,000 monthly.”
In addition, he referenced the Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund and the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP).
“There is also CREDICORP for the public at large, established to lend uncollateralised loans to Nigerians,” he said.
On infrastructure, the former council boss cited ongoing projects such as the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway.
“On completion, the 750-kilometre project will pass through Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Akwa Ibom. It will reduce travel time, increase trade efficiency, and deliver huge economic and social benefits,” he said.
He also mentioned the Sokoto–Badagry highway project, describing it as a major boost to connectivity.
Egunjobi further commended the increased monthly allocations to state and local governments.
“This has given them more resources to carry out impactful projects and programmes,” he noted.
On the political landscape, he argued that the opposition in Nigeria has been significantly weakened by internal crises and defections.
“We are all living witnesses to the wave of defections from opposition parties to the APC,” he said, adding that the situation has reshaped the country’s political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
Despite reports of internal disagreements within the ruling party, Egunjobi dismissed suggestions of a major crisis.
“As far as I am concerned, there is no crisis of note in the APC. Like they say, there is no perfect relationship,” he said.
Looking ahead, Egunjobi confirmed his intention to contest for the Agege Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
“Yes, it is true. This is not my first time of having that aspiration,” he said.
He recalled stepping down from the race in the past following advice from the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Mudasiru Obasa.
“He is the leader of both politicians and non-politicians in Agege. His contributions to the development of the area are unmatched,” Egunjobi said, expressing optimism about securing his support as he prepares to re-enter the race.
