ABUJA โ The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, has expressed satisfaction with the ongoing development projects within the nationโs capital, citing significant improvements and progress in various areas.
Speaking during an inspection tour of the projects on Monday in Abuja, the Minister commended the contractors and reassured residents that the projects would be completed by May 2025 as promised.
โConcerning the project, you can attest to the fact that there is very much improvement. The progress is so much. From the junction there, from what I saw, Iโm very much impressed,โ Wike stated.
Highlighting the infrastructure upgrades around the Justicesโ quarters, the Minister described the transformation as remarkable. โYou can see the roads surrounding the Justicesโ quarters. Itโs something else.

The level of work carried out there is amazing. And look at this place; from the last time we came, you know we couldnโt get to this point.
The company has been able to finish this major culvert,โ he said.

He praised the Renewed Hope Agenda championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, emphasizing its impact on development within the FCT. โThe value of land and property in this axis has skyrocketed, and residents are witnessing a level of development they never thought possible. For me, Iโm very, very much impressed. I want to thank Mr. President for the opportunity to contribute to restoring hope to Nigerians,โ he added.
Addressing concerns about compensation for properties affected by the road construction, Wike clarified that assessments and valuations were ongoing.
โIโm not in the compensation department. Itโs only when theyโve done their work and submitted it to me that weโll look at the value and the number of houses affected. For now, I canโt say whether itโs 20 houses or 30,โ he explained.
The Minister urged the affected communities to cooperate, stressing that the road projects would ultimately benefit them. โThis road is to their own benefit. By the time itโs finished, with streetlights everywhere, it will transform the community. I appeal to everyone to support this project so we can achieve this important milestone,โ he said.
When asked to assess his performance for the year, Wike deferred to public opinion and the presidential monitoring team responsible for evaluating government deliverables.
โI canโt set an exam for myself, mark, and grade myself. Itโs for the public to assess. But generally, am I satisfied with what the government has done, especially in our city? Yes, I am very much satisfied,โ he stated.
