The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, Ph.D., GCON, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of renowned businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Aminu Dantata, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most accomplished figures.
Alhaji Dantata died on Saturday at the age of 94.
In a condolence message issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, the Speaker described the late industrialist as a pioneer in Nigeria’s private sector whose business ventures spanned various industries such as construction, banking, manufacturing, agriculture, and the oil and gas sector.
Speaker Abbas lauded Alhaji Dantata for maintaining a strong legacy of success across multiple industries over several decades, despite shifting economic conditions.
He further eulogized the late businessman as a man of profound impact, not just in commerce but also in religious and charitable activities.
“We have lost a patriarch and one of Nigeria’s most patriotic citizens. Alhaji Aminu Dantata was not only a highly respected entrepreneur but also a generous employer,” Speaker Abbas said.
“His life was defined by resilience, hard work, discipline, and generosity. His enduring business legacy, which has stood the test of time, is proof of his unwavering commitment and vision.
“Nigeria will always remember his industrious spirit and the immense role he played in national development. His passing is a great loss, but his humility and achievements will continue to serve as a source of inspiration.
“The Dantata legacy is one that will be remembered for generations. He will be deeply missed.”
Speaker Abbas also highlighted the remarkable continuity of the Dantata business empire, noting that Alhaji Aminu Dantata successfully carried forward the legacy of his father, Alhaji Alhassan Dantata, one of the wealthiest figures in West Africa during the early 20th century.
The Speaker extended his heartfelt condolences to the Dantata family, the government, and the people of Kano State over the loss.
He offered prayers for Allah (SWT) to grant the late Alhaji Aminu Dantata eternal rest in Jannatul Firdaus.
