The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed the AI-generated image circulating on social media, which depicted him as an alhaji.
According to Church Times Nigeria on Saturday, Adeboye spoke during the first Holy Ghost Night of the new year, held in the early hours of Saturday, January 4.
Late December last year, there were viral images which trended online depicting the RCCG pastor as a Muslim โ clothed in Islamic garments โ and as being in the Holy land of Mecca, Saudi Arabia.
PUNCH Online reports that a male figure who completed Hajj rituals on an holy pilgrimage to Saudi Arabia is called an Alhaji while the female counterpartis is called an Alhaja.
On Mockers
Adeboye also addressed the growing presence of mockers, predicting that many would not survive the year.
However, he emphasised that God does not desire the death of sinners.
With a wry smile, he acknowledged the AI-generated image of him as an alhaji, remarking, โIโm sure many of you saw that picture showing me as an alhaji.โ
Prophecies for Global Stage
Turning his focus to international concerns, Adeboye urged prayers for peace, especially with the ongoing global conflicts, to prevent another world war.
He also prophesied that 2025 would witness an unprecedented earthquake of massive proportions.
In his message, titled, โThe Glory Ahead,โ Adeboye assured his listeners that despite current challenges, the future would be brighter.
He assured the congregation that Godโs purpose for humanity on earth remains paramount, explaining that God isnโt in a hurry to take people to heaven because He needs them to fulfill His divine mission here on earth.
He expressed confidence that Nigeria would soon experience peace after the churchโs 100-day fast.
On Nigeriaโs Future
The RCCG General Overseer outlined the churchโs focus for the 100-day fast, noting that the first 30 days would be dedicated to praying for Nigeria.
He vowed to lead the church in โviolent prayersโ aimed at uprooting elements that hinder the countryโs progress.
He assured the congregation that 2025 would be a pivotal year when the scripture, โThe kingdom of God suffers violence, and the violent take it by force,โ would come to fruition.
He urged individuals above 70 to refrain from participating in the fast, advising those aged 70 to 80 to break their fast by 3 p.m. and those over 80 by noon.
Those above 90 were encouraged to avoid the fast altogether, as, in his words, they were in the โdeparture lounge of life.โ
Adeboye further emphasised the importance of prayer during the fast, warning that without it, fasting would only amount to a โhunger strike.โ
He also urged participants to avoid frivolous conversations throughout the fasting period.
Speaking about the future, Adeboye prophesied that 2025 would bring a โstronger wind,โ signifying significant breakthroughs, promotions, and long-awaited milestones, including weddings.
The AI Picture and Story
Multiple media reports the incident but Factcheckhub reported that an X user, @Sarkideyforyou, shared an image of Adeboye standing in front of the Kaabah in Mecca, Saudi Arabiaโa religious site for Muslims.
The post, which was accompanied by the caption, โPastor Adeboye may Allah guide you to the right path,โ garnered significant attention, with over 3.8 million views, 1,500 reposts, 1,800 comments, and 4,000 likes by December 22, 2024.
