LAGOS – Air Peace has retained the International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Certification.
This is the sixth consecutive time the airline is retaining the IOSA certification.
A statement by Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Spokesman for Air Peace, said that the certification underscored the airline’s commitment to maintaining the highest global safety standards in aviation, cementing its position as a leader in the industry.
The statement hinted that Mr. Patrick Achurefe, Head of Quality, Air Peace Limited, welcomed guests to the presentation ceremony and lauded Dr. Allen Onyema, Chairman, Air Peace for his support throughout the rigorous audit process.
Achurefe noted that Air Peace first earned the IOSA status in 2016, just two years after commencing operations.
He explained that since then, Air Peace has consistently met the stringent standards required to maintain this global recognition, achieving certifications in the years that followed.
He said: “I am elated that we did not disappoint, as the process managers involved in the audit demonstrated exceptional expertise and dedication.”
Speaking at the event, Dr. Samson Fatokun, Area Manager, West and Central Africa, IATA, lauded Air Peace for being the pride of Nigeria.
Fatokun noted the airline’s remarkable achievements in just a decade of its operations, insisting that it was not just a fluke.
According to him, Air Peace’s presence on the IOSA registry was a testament to its dedication to safety, operational excellence and professionalism.
He added: “This milestone is not just a victory for the airline, but a pride for Nigeria. It highlights that local carriers can operate at the highest international safety levels.”
Onyema who received the certificate on behalf of the airline, expressed gratitude to the management team who he said worked tirelessly to achieve this feat.
Onyema stated that the certification was an attestation to the hard work and dogged determination of the board and management of Air Peace in ensuring safety standards and just culture in the organisation.
“This sixth IOSA certification is a testament to our commitment to global safety standards. It affirms that we are on the right track and provides our passengers with the confidence that their safety remains our top priority.
“I extend my heartfelt thanks to our management team and staff who have gone above and beyond to make this possible,” he said.
Dr. Onyema also commended President Bola Tinubu and Mr. Festus Keyamo, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development for implementing progressive policies that were transforming the aviation sector.
He specifically said that under the guidance of Keyamo, Nigeria’s signing of the Cape Town Convention had opened new opportunities for the aviation industry.
This, he said would enhance the capacity of local airlines, reduce operational costs, and ultimately lead to more competitive airfares.
He further appreciated IATA for its support for the industry and for ensuring that African airlines like Air Peace had a seat at the global table.
Others present at the ceremony at the airline’s corporate headquarters in Lagos were Air Peace’s top executives, including Capt. Augustin Kamano, Director of Flight Operations, Capt. Gerald Udaya, Head of Training; Capt. Godfrey Ogbogu, Safety Manager; Dr. Ejike Ndiulo, Head, Corporate Communications; Ikwo Iyanam, Cabin Services Manager; James Bello, Head of IT and Davids Odeyemi, Head of Sales and Business Development for Air Peace.
