The Ondo State Security Network Agency, also known as Amotekun Corps, has apprehended 21 suspects for alleged involvement in various crimes, including kidnapping, theft, and attempted murder, across the state.
Also Amotekun units in the South-West have deployed 2,000 to secure the region.
Parading the suspects at the corpsโ headquarters in Akure on Wednesday, the Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, disclosed that four suspects were arrested for alleged kidnapping, five for violating the anti-grazing law, and others for crimes ranging from destruction of property to conspiracy and theft.
โToday, we are parading 21 suspects who have breached the peace in the last two weeks. Among them are Moses, Lucky, Yakubu, and Muhammed, who are suspected kidnappers, as well as five others arrested for violating the anti-open grazing law. The remaining suspects were involved in theft, destruction of property, attempted murder, and other offenses,โ Adeleye stated.
The Amotekun commander noted that the arrests reflect the corpsโ commitment to maintaining peace in the state.
Adeleye also revealed that the corps had mediated between herders and farmers to address conflicts arising from violations of the anti-grazing law.
โThere has been an increase in violations of the anti-grazing law. After a series of meetings with herders and farmers, we reached an agreement: herders must refrain from destroying farmlands, and farmers should not harm their cows,โ he explained.
Highlighting the corpsโ regional collaboration, Adeleye disclosed that Amotekun units in the South-West have deployed 2,000 personnel to secure the region against banditry, with Ondo Stateโs Amotekun Rangers actively patrolling the forests to deter criminal elements.
โThe breaches at the borders have significantly reduced due to the efforts of our rangers. They are positioned across the stateโs forests to tackle any bandits. We appreciate the public for providing timely information and urge them to continue supporting us with actionable intelligence,โ he said.
Adeleye reaffirmed the corpsโ resolve to sustain peace and protect lives and property in the state.
