ONITSHA – Chief Jide Nwankwo, the president of Building Materials International Market, Ogidi, has thrown his weight behind Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State in his second term bid.
Speaking after a monthly traders’ prayer session, Chief Nwankwo expressed strong confidence that Soludo’s performance in areas like education, health, infrastructure, and security positions him for a sweeping victory in the upcoming November 8, 2025 gubernatorial election.“
Let me sound it loud and clear—Soludo has shown undeniable evidence of quality leadership in just three years. He deserves another term,” said Nwankwo, who also serves as a patron of the Anambra State Markets Amalgamated Traders Association (ASMATA).
Nwankwo praised Soludo’s success in restoring traffic flow across key areas such as the Onitsha Bridgehead to Amansea, maintaining environmental sanitation, and clamping down on illegal revenue collectors—without resorting to borrowing.“
The governor has eliminated touts through anti-revenue task forces. Now we know who the legitimate tax agents are. This has encouraged us traders to pay our dues responsibly, even if the rates are high,” he added.
While acknowledging the right of other political parties to contest, Nwankwo declared his belief that Soludo’s party, APGA, would win decisively in all 21 local government areas and 326 wards of the state.
The market leader also spoke on his recent award from the Ogbaru Main Market Traders Association, stating he was humbled and committed to upholding the values that earned him the recognition. He commended fellow market leader, Chief Ndubuisi Ochiogu, for his support.
Reflecting on his tenure at the helm of the Building Materials International Market, Nwankwo said he inherited a crisis-ridden environment but quickly brokered peace among aggrieved parties, resulting in lasting stability.“
Now we have no court or police cases. We’ve developed four new estates and upgraded our market infrastructure. God has used us to provide homes, land, and peace of mind to many,” he said.
Nwankwo concluded by affirming that the market remains free of crime, thanks to a vigilant task force and effective security measures.
