…unraveling guilt, and redemption

ABUJA – The much-anticipated Yoruba movie Ipéle (Veil), directed by veteran Nollywood actress Foluke Daramola, is set to premiere on September 12 on the popular Yoruba movie YouTube channel, Apata.

The film’s Executive Producer, Peter Ayeni, made the announcement during a press chat in Abuja on Sunday. According to Ayeni, Ipéle is a gripping drama thriller that promises to captivate audiences with its intense storyline and stellar performances from a star-studded cast.

Shot in Lagos, Nigeria, Ipéle tells the compelling story of a reckless young man who, after committing a heinous crime by raping a young girl, later transforms his life by becoming a pastor. As he seeks redemption and attempts to move forward, the ghosts of his past return to haunt him, threatening to unravel his newfound path and shatter the life he has built. His past indiscretions come to light, leading society to cast aspersions on his new identity.

“Ipéle explores deep moral questions about guilt, forgiveness, and the inescapable consequences of one’s actions,” Ayeni said. “With its intricate web of deceit, friendship, and redemption, audiences can expect a thought-provoking narrative brought to life by powerful performances.”

The film features a strong ensemble of Nollywood veterans, including Yemi Solade as Pastor Adebiyi, Ayo Adesanya, Ladi Folarin, and Rotimi Salami. Ayeni emphasized that the cast’s depth and emotion will elevate the movie’s intense storyline, making it one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.

“The tension-filled plot and top-tier performances make Ipéle a must-watch for lovers of Yoruba cinema,” Ayeni stated, adding that the movie is expected to spark discussions on morality and societal values.

Ayeni, who is also the founder of PartyJollof Africa, further highlighted the importance of the film’s message, urging Nigerians to take its lessons to heart in order to uphold societal norms and values. PartyJollof Africa is committed to elevating African cinema, empowering creators, and connecting them with audiences seeking authentic, compelling stories.

The premiere of Ipéle on Apata YouTube marks a significant moment for Yoruba cinema, with the film expected to draw widespread attention and acclaim.
