Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau Jibrin, has unveiled the All Progressives Congress campaign council for Kano North ahead of the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.
Barau, who represents Kano North in the Senate, charged the council to take the party’s campaign to the grassroots through house-to-house mobilisation across the senatorial district.
His Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ismail Mudashir, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday.
The council is headed by the Managing Director of the Hadeja Jama’are River Basin Development Authority and former Secretary to the Kano State Government, Engineer Rabiu Sulaiman Bichi, while the state Commissioner for Education, Dr Ali Haruna Makoda, was named deputy chairman.
Former Surveyor General of the Federation, Surveyor Nadu Yahaya, will serve as secretary, while former House of Representatives member, Farouk Lawan, was appointed Vice Chairman I.
Saidu Garba Getso and Badamasi Ayuba were named Vice Chairmen II and III respectively, while grassroots mobiliser, Alhaji Yusuf Tumfafi, was appointed Director-General.
Other members include Dr Kabiru Ado Zakirai, Ahmed Haruna Bichi and Idris Unguwar Rimi as deputy secretaries.
Yusuf Yusuf Tabuka, Auwalu Ibrahim Danzabuwa, Ali Ado Bagwai and Ali Gumawa were appointed deputy directors-general.
The council also appointed chairmen and co-chairmen for the 13 local government areas in Kano North, covering Shanono, Bagwai, Gwarzo, Kabo, Rimin Gado, Tofa, Dawakin Tofa, Bichi, Ghari, Tsanyawa, Dambatta, Makoda and Gabasawa.
Barau urged members of the council to ensure that the APC’s message reached voters across the district, while highlighting the achievements of the administration as a basis for the party’s campaign.
The statement noted, “The Deputy President of the Senate charged all members of the Campaign Council to take the APC campaign to every nook and cranny of the Kano North Senatorial District, mobilising massive support for all APC candidates.”
The senator said the administration’s performance provided a strong basis for the party’s campaign, urging the council to communicate its achievements directly to constituents.
“The achievements of the administration speak for themselves, with impactful interventions cutting across all critical sectors and touching the lives of constituents positively,” it added.
Barau further urged the campaign council to ensure that the achievements of the administration were effectively communicated to voters across the district ahead of the elections.
He said, “Senator Barau, therefore, urged the campaign council to take the message of the achievements to the people and secure overwhelming support for the APC at the polls.”
The statement said the zonal campaign committee would include serving and former governors and deputy governors, senators, members of the House of Representatives, APC candidates, party executives, former elected officials and political appointees.
It added that local government and ward committees would comprise party executives, serving and former elected officials, councillors, caucus members, elders and other stakeholders from the respective areas.
