LAGOS – Bergson Education Center, Ibeju-Lekki, celebrate its inaugural Prize and Award Ceremony, honoured students’ academic achievements, moral excellence, and cultural identity.

In her address, Mrs. Rosberg Michael Esebuono, Executive Director, highlighted the school’s vision to raise well-rounded, self-reliant learners equipped for a fast-changing world.

Bergson has grown into a thriving institution that combines strong academics with practical skill-building and character development.

The colourful and emotional event held at Ibeju-Lekki, Lagos made history recently as it rolled out the drums,not just a celebration-it was a statement of purpose, resilience, and transformation.

From a humble beginnings just a year ago.
“We’re not only focused on academics, we we are also raising resilient children with integrity, self-confidence, and life skills,” she said.

Esebuono celebrated the journey from the school’s modest start with a few students and teachers to becoming a beacon of excellence and community.

In her moving farewell speech, pioneer student Aliyah Mohammed described her Bergson journey as unforgettable:
“We are graduating from a legacy. I will carry the torch of perseverance, kindness, and integrity. I won’t be distracted by negative peer pressure or social media noise.”She was joined by fellow graduates Chimamanda Uche and others in vowing to uphold the school’s values wherever they go.
PTA Chairperson, Mrs. Salimon, praised the school’s impact on her 2 daughters especially in building confidence and eloquence.

She also appreciated the support of special guests including Dr. Ruth Oji of Pan African University, and Mr. Osaigbovo, Mrs. Monday, Mrs Mohammad. Others are Mrs Uche,Mrs Okeoma, Mrs George, Mrs Chukwu and Ms Chidimma , Mrs Ikechukwu and several esteemed parents and educators.

Mrs. Eucharia Epharim, another parent, was full of praise:. “This event shows how invested the school is in each child’s growth-academically and beyond. My son Jonathan has truly blossomed here.”

Educator and Head Teacher, Ms Felicia Owolo, echoed this passion, applauding students’ dedication and appreciating parents and staff( Mrs Charles)for their unwavering support.

According to her,” The students didn’t just shine academically-they owned the stage with vibrant cultural displays, including a fashion catwalk, animal sound presentation, parades, proverb interpretations, and global current affairs presentations.,”

The school’s traditional values were also brought to life through the performance and cultural dance, symbolizing the fusion of knowledge and heritage.

The high point of the event was the induction of the first JSS 3 graduating class into Senior Secondary School, with eight pioneer students recognised for their outstanding performance and leadership potential.

“Our summer classes begin August 4, and we’re taking it further-teaching not just English and Math but French, Spanish, and hands-on catering and vocational skills,” she noted.

The celebration concluded with the presentation of awards and certificates to outstanding students, followed by rounds of applause, cheers, and cultural chants that echoed Bergson’s motto of “Excellence, Integrity, and Creativity.

As parents and guests departed, they left with hearts full of pride, and the strong conviction that Bergson Education Center is not just a school-it’s a launchpad for future changemakers
