The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) reported that a female rider was killed by a containerized vehicle in the Sifax inner Iganmu Bridge area.
It was gathered that the truck driver lost control of the vehicle on Monday, resulting in the vehicle falling on the female biker who was descending the bridge. A very devastating situation indeed.
Adebayo Taofiq, LASTMA’s Director of Public Affairs and Education, verified the incident using the organization’s official X handle.
The statement partly read, “Early this morning, operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) and other emergency responders recovered the body of a female biker trapped under a loaded containerized truck in Lagos.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the truck driver, who was speeding, lost control and caused the truck to fall on the female biker. The driver fled the scene upon realizing the severity of the accident.”
Sola Giwa, the governor’s special adviser on transportation and a member of the advisory council, verified that the incident occurred at approximately 6:15 a.m.
The LASEMA Response Unit (LRU), among other emergency responders, was promptly summoned for a rescue operation by LASTMA officials, according to Giwa.

The containerized truck was removed to make room for unrestricted vehicle traffic on the Iganmu Bridge, and the deceased’s body was transported away by the Lagos State Ambulance Service. In order to maintain security throughout the rescue effort, police officers were also sent in.
Giwa expressed condolences to the deceased’s family and asked truckers to respect speed limits both inside and outside the state.
Additionally, he counseled individual and commercial motorcycle riders to abide by the traffic laws and regulations outlined in the Lagos State Transport Sector Reform Law of 2018.
