The air was heavy with grief as family, friends, and well-wishers gathered to pay their last respects to Princess Mrs. Gloria Ukamaka Nwora (Iruezigbo), the beloved mother of media mogul, Uche Nworah.
The Requiem Mass at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church, Umuakwu Village, Enugwu-Ukwu, which heralded her committal was a poignant moment for all who knew her. As gathered, Irurezigbo was not just a mother; she was a pillar of strength, wisdom, and kindness, even as she exemplified the values of hard work, perseverance, and compassion. Her journey from a humble background to joining her late husband, Nze Edwin Nworah, who had earlier passed on, in raising a successful son in the media industry is a testament to her resilience.
Activities that preceded her committal cut across vigil mass held at Umuakwu Village, Enugwu-Ukwu, on Thursday, 20th June, 2024, and her lying in state in her father’s compound, Eduzor family, Avomimi village, Enugwu-Ukwu.
The funeral was attended by prominent figures from the media industry, government officials, and community leaders. They shared stories of Mrs. Nworah’s generosity, her commitment to community development, and her unwavering faith.
His Excellency, Mr. Peter Obi who came to pay his last respects to the matriarch, was welcomed by Ezeudo and other members of the family, even as Senator Dr. Victor Umeh, representing Anambra Central on Friday commiserated with Ezeudo over the loss of his mother.
Senator Umeh, represented by his amiable wife, Lady Prisca Umeh also extended his heartfelt sympathy to Nze George Nwora (Akonobi) and the entire Nwora family of Umuakwu village, Enugwu-Ukwu, Anambra State; stressing that Late Princess Gloria Nwora lived a fulfilled life with numerous accomplishments.
The Senator therefore prayed that Almighty God grant her soul eternal rest and the bereaved family the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Among many sympathisers who visited Ezeudo at Enugwu-Ukwu in to commiserate with him over the death of his mother were the Anambra State Commissioner for Local Government Chieftaincy and Community Affairs Hon Tonycollins Nwabunwanne, and COOU Governoring Council Member Chief Christopher Ndubuisi Ikenga Umuawulu).
Ezeudo, known for his contributions to journalism and media, expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support during this difficult time, and described all the women that provided most of the essential logistics and catering which contributed to the success of the burial as the Most Valuable Players (MVPs). He wrote on his Facebook page, “Appreciating The Real MVPs That Powered Iruezigbo’s Burial Ceremony” underneath a video he shared while singing and dancing with them.
