Cross River State Governor, Bassey Otu, has commended the Tertiary Education Trust Fund for its significant role in advancing educational infrastructure to improve teaching and learning across Nigeria.
Speaking during the 2024 TETFUND Management Retreat in Calabar, on Thursday, Otu, represented by his deputy, Peter Odey, acknowledged the indispensable contributions of TETFUND to higher education.
He stated that without the Fundโs interventions, university education in the country would face immense challenges, emphasising that โhigher education in the country cannot be without TETFUND.โ
The governor urged TETFUND to remain steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the quality of higher education and reaffirmed the state governmentโs dedication to partnering with the Fund to improve education in Cross River State.
TETFUNDโs Executive Secretary, Sonny Echono, highlighted the Fundโs progress in reforming and scaling up its interventions through collaboration with its Board and the Minister of Education.
He noted that these efforts align with President Bola Tinubuโs vision to make Nigeriaโs higher education system
more responsive to the needs of students, scholars, and otherย stakeholders.
