Dele Farotimi, on Tuesday morning was released from the correctional service in Ekiti State after meeting the N30 bail conditions.
Recalled that a Magistrate’s Court in Ado-Ekiti granted N30 million bail to Farotimi, who had been remanded in prison since December 4, over alleged defamation against the founder of Afe Babalola University, Ado-Ekiti (ABUAD), Aare Afe Babalola.
The Police had arrested Farotimi in his office in Lekki, Lagos state and took him to Ado Ekiti, followingBabalola’spetition.
Babalola alleged in his petition that Farotimi defamed him in his book titled, ‘Nigeria and its Criminal Justice System’, where he alleged that the legal icon corrupted the Supreme Court to procure a fraudulent judgment in the service of his clients.
He was docked on 16-count-charge bothering on defamation, of which he pleaded not guilty to.
