Delta State Governor and Coordinator of the Presidential Primary Election in the state, Sheriff Oborevwori, has urged leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress in Delta State to mobilise massively and deliver strong support for President Bola Tinubu in the party’s presidential primary election scheduled for Saturday.
Oborevwori made the call on Friday during a visit to the founding leader of the APC in Delta State, Olorogun O’tega Emerhor, at his country home in Evwreni, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
Addressing party stakeholders, the governor expressed confidence in the strength of the APC structure in Delta State, insisting that the party had the capacity to produce overwhelming votes for the President.
“We know our strength as a party in Delta State. We have over 470,000 members and we expect massive turnout. We are determined to deliver strong numbers because this exercise is important for the unity and future of our party,” he said.
Oborevwori added that the state APC structure was targeting at least 390,000 affirmation votes for President Tinubu, stressing that grassroots mobilisation across the state remained strong and active.
He also referenced his own emergence as the party’s governorship candidate, noting that the level of support he received then demonstrated the organisational strength of the APC in Delta State.
“You affirmed me as sole governorship candidate with over 345,000 votes. This one is for Mr. President and he deserves more because he is the leader of the party,” Oborevwori said.
The governor used the opportunity to call for discipline, unity, and respect for party leadership, warning that internal divisions could undermine political success.
“A political party without discipline, without respect for leadership and without regard for authority cannot move forward. Leadership must be respected because that is what provides direction and stability for any organisation,” he stated.
He emphasised that party supremacy and collective responsibility were essential for building a strong political structure capable of delivering electoral victories.
Responding, Emerhor commended Oborevwori for what he described as purposeful leadership and efforts to strengthen the APC in Delta State since joining the party.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is one governor who respects elders so much. We have fought for this party for years and we thank God for his coming to provide leadership and direction,” Emerhor said.
He stressed that political success depended on consultation, inclusiveness, and respect for established party structures, noting that no candidate could succeed without engaging stakeholders.
“A leader provides direction. Political activities cannot succeed without consultation and respect for established structures. Leadership matters because it brings organisation and stability,” he added.
Emerhor assured the governor of the commitment of APC leaders and stakeholders in Delta State to work together toward delivering strong support for President Tinubu in the upcoming primary election.
