Everton are now keen to sign another player from Ligue 1 after securing the £16.9m signing of Iliman Ndiaye from Marseille.
The Toffees are no strangers to raiding France’s top flight, previously moving to sign Amadou Onana from Lille – who is now joining Aston Villa – and Idrissa Gueye from PSG in recent times before striking a £16.9m deal with Marseille for Iliman Ndiaye this summer.
A story from Foot Mercato in France now claims that Everton are keen to sign Becir Omeragic.
The Montpellier No.27 has made the Toffees sit up and take notice after an outstanding 2023/24 campaign, earning a return to the Switzerland squad after shining across 28 appearances in Ligue 1 last season.
Foot Mercato believe Everton could soon make a bid for the central defender – who Montpellier signed for free in May 2023 – although the French side are in a strong negotiating position, as Omeragic has a contract running until July 2028.
The BBC actually included Omeragic in a feature profiling the 20 best young talents ahead of UEFA Euro 2020 – where an interesting problem was highlighted.
It was said that the 22-year-old often misses some games and training sessions due to debilitating migraines.
Nevertheless, Everton may already be aware of that problem if the BBC are clued up on it, and anything of that ilk will surely come up during a medical, if the Toffees can first agree a fee with Montpellier.

The BBC also mentioned that Omeragic idolises Zlatan Ibrahimovic for his strong mentality, but focuses on Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos when looking for fellow defenders to model his game on.
In our view, Sean Dyche may even be looking at the man from Genf as a potential replacement for Jarrad Branthwaite, who is still attracting interest from Manchester United despite the imminent arrival of Leny Yoro, according to Sky Sports.
