The Chief Judge of the Federal High Court of Nigeria, Justice John Tsoho, has announced that the 2024 yuletide vacation for judges will commence on December 16, 2024.
According to a circular signed by the Chief Judge, made available to The PUNCH on Wednesday, in Abuja, the vacation ends Monday, January 6, 2025, as the court resumes sitting Tuesday, January 7, 2025, in all judicial Divisions.
This is according to the provisions of Order 46, Rule 4 (C) of the Federal High Courtย (Civil Procedure) Rules, 2019 (as amended).
The circular noted that during the vacation, only matters relating to the enforcement of fundamental rights; arrest or release of vessels, and matters that concern dire national interest shall be entertained by the vacation judges.
Also, during the vacation period, the core judicial divisions; Abuja, Lagos, and Port-Harcourt Judicial Divisions will be the only courts functional and open to handle litigation throughout the Vacation.
The roster for vacation judges is as follows โ โThe Abuja judicial division -Justiceย Emeka Nwite and Justiceย M. S. Liman will serve as vacation judges.
โLAGOS division Justiceย Akintayo Aluko and Justiceย Isaac Dipeolu and in Port-Harcourt division -Justiceย P. M. Ayua and Justiceย A. T. ย will serve as vacation judges.โ
