The Kano State Police Command on Wednesday said it had recorded a breakthrough in its operations following the arrest of a fleeing murder suspect, identified as Ismail Rabiu otherwise knowna a Risi.
The police commandโs spokesman, S P Abdullahi Haruna, who made the disclosure in a statement made available to PUNCH Metro on Wednesday, said, โThe Kano State Police Command is pleased to announce a significant development in the ongoing investigation into the heinous kidnapping and murder case that occurred on 08/02/2024 at about 1100hrs, at Hotoron Fulani Quarters, Kano.โ

โAfter in-depth investigations and relentless efforts, the command has successfully apprehended the fleeing suspect, Ismail Rabiu, โmโ, a.k.a. Risi, believed to be the mastermind involved in this despicable crime.โ
According to the statement, on February 12, 2024, the prime suspect, Ismail Adamu, aged 22 years old, โmโ, of Mariri Quarters was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and subsequent tragic murder of one Abdullahi Sani, aged 14 years old, โmโ, of Hotoron Fulani Quarters Kano.
โDuring investigation, the suspect identified the said Ismail Rabiu (a.k.a. Risi) as his accomplice in the commission of the crime. Both the suspects confessed to the crime and will be charged to court on completion of investigations.โ
The Commissioner of Police, Usaini Mohammed Gumel, was said to have reiterated the unwavering commitment of the command to protect the lives and property of the residents of Kano State.
He was quoted to have assured the residents that such criminal activities would not be tolerated, adding that the law would take its due course to ensure that justice prevails.
