Five communities in Fune local government areas have been significantly affected by the recent flood disaster in Yobe State, according to the Yobe State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA.
The agency conducted an evaluation to assess the damage and displacement resulting from the floods, emphasizing the critical requirement for ongoing assistance and intervention.
“The assessment is in line with the directives of Governor Mai Mala Buni, aimed at coming up with profiles of the victims towards providing them with immediate, short and long-lasting solutions”, SEMA added.
The agency reported that the affected communities include Ngelzarma, Damagum, Kayeri, Mashio, and Kafaje, with a total of 1,598 households severely affected by the disaster.
“There have been 44 reported injuries and sadly several deaths across the five assessed wards were recorded as detailed below”, it said.
SEMA called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure that relief efforts are well organized to assist those in need, as the agency continues its commitment to reducing the impact of the flooding and bolstering the affected communities’ resilience.
