Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has described a former representative of Rivers East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, John Mbata, as an exceptional and principled leader who consistently stands for truth and defends the interests of Rivers State.
Fubara made this remark during a visit to Mbataโs residence in the Mgbuoba Community, the Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, to celebrate his 65th birthday on Friday.
The governor was accompanied by prominent state leaders.
A statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Nelson Chukwudi, and distributed to newsmen highlighted the governorโs words of admiration and respect for the former senator.
The governor acknowledged Mbataโs commitment to the progress of the state, attributing it to his integrity and genuine love for the state.
โIt takes a man who has integrity, not the one that will hear when people are talking publicly, but the real one to stand on the path of truth, and you have shown it in this state. We appreciate that,โ Fubara stated.
He added, โAs we join to mark this day with you, I want you to know that we appreciate your support for us. We will continue to work with you, to support you, and ensure that together, we will get to that Promised Land.โ
Fubara lauded Mbataโs humility, describing him as a rare individual whose wealthโboth inherited and earned through hard workโhas not altered his modesty.
โNo wonder, whoever crosses your path always has positive things to say. I want to wish you good health and more blessings. You know David (of the Bible) was blessed that even in his old age, he was still receiving a lot of honours,.
โSo, I want the blessings of God that added no sorrow to continue to be your portion. To the family, Daddy is marking his birthday. He has lived a good lifeโa life with reputationโso that people will also make reference just like they make to that of his father. Let it also be so with his own children. Make him proud,โ the governor remarked.
