Technology giant Globacom has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering world-class telecommunications infrastructure while ensuring its customers continue to enjoy competitive rates for voice and data services.
This is in response to the recent increase in telecom tariffs nationwide.
In a statement shared with PUNCH Online on Sunday, Globacom announced that its nationwide network enhancement project is being intensified to ensure an improved customer experience.
โTo ensure continued service excellence, Glo is intensifying its network upgrade nationwide,โ the company stated.
The telecom provider revealed that the current phase of its network upgrade, which commenced last year, involves a nationwide rollout of new sites and upgrades to existing ones.
โThis extensive upgrade covers the entire scope of telecoms infrastructure, from the core network to access network, transmission and IP network, fiber network, metro access, and backbone infrastructure. We are also expanding passive equipment like power and environmental systems,โ the statement read.
To boost connectivity and minimise network congestion, the company has successfully deployed hundreds of new sites across key locations including Lagos, Ogun, Nasarawa, Rivers, Edo, Delta, Cross River, Kaduna, Kano, and Abuja.

Additionally, hundreds of LTE 2600 sites have been integrated in key markets such as Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ondo, Kwara, and various tertiary institutions in Rivers, Edo, Abuja, Enugu, and Anambra.
โThis strategic rollout ensures high-speed data availability in critical areas while eliminating network congestion,โ the company emphasised.
Globacom also aligned its efforts with the broadband penetration initiative of the Federal Ministry of Communication and Digital Economy.
โWeโve expanded data network capacity and carried out enhancements across 1,700 sites in Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Osun, Ekiti, Edo, Delta, Anambra, Enugu, Abia, Ebonyi, Bayelsa, Benue, Nasarawa, Kaduna, and Plateau States.
โThis initiative is targeted at improving data throughput, ensuring customers enjoy seamless browsing and calling experiences,โ it further read.
The telecom provider further highlighted its ongoing efforts to install hundreds of new 2G, 3G, and 4G base stations across the country to enhance coverage and meet growing capacity demand.
โThese additional base stations will significantly improve service delivery, network quality, and coverage across Nigeria,โ the statement added.
In a bid to reinforce its technical backbone, the company stated that it upgraded the Glo1 submarine cable capacity.
โThis enhancement ensures maximum utilisation and effectively supports our technical expansions and upgrades, guaranteeing exceptional browsing and calling experiences on the Glo network,โ it continued.
To further enhance reliability, Globacom has embarked on a massive nationwide power and fiber infrastructure upgrade.
โWe are deploying thousands of new generators and replacing old fiber routes with new ones across thousands of kilometers.
