LAGOS – A group, Prayer for Nigerian Armed Forces and other Security Agencies (PSNAFSA), has condemned in strongest terms the senseless and brutal killing of Nigeria Policemen allegedly by Shiite members, saying that the dastardly act is unacceptable and must be condemned by all.
Convener PSNAFSA, Ambassador Mary Abayomi-Fatile, in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday, said that the “killing of security operatives who are working tirelessly to protect lives and properties is a grave offense that must not go unpunished.”
According to Abayomi- Fatile: “The killing of security operatives by Shiite members has severe implications for our society. Firstly, it undermines the rule of law and creates a sense of impunity, where individuals or groups feel they can take the laws into their hands and commit heinous crimes without consequences.
“This can lead to a breakdown in social order and create an environment of fear and uncertainty, where citizens feel unsafe and unprotected.”
She said that “Moreover, the killing of security operatives can also demoralize the security forces, leading to a decrease in their effectiveness and willingness to perform their duties, which can further compromise public safety.
“Furthermore, the killing of security operatives can also have long-term implications for our society’s social cohesion and stability. It can create divisions and mistrust among different groups, leading to further conflict and violence.
“Additionally, it can also undermine the government’s authority and legitimacy, making it harder to maintain social order and provide essential services to citizens.
“Besides, the killing of security operatives is a threat to our collective safety and security
and a stark reminder of the need for us to come together as a society and reject violence and extremism in all its forms.”
Abayomi-Fatile urged all to work towards creating a culture of peace, tolerance, and respect for human life, and ensure that those who commit such heinous crimes are brought to justice.
PSNASA, therefore, called on the Nigeria Police to go after the killers and bring them to justice swiftly, adding: “The perpetrators must be made to face the full wrath of the law.”
While calling on members of the public to assist the Police in their investigations, Abayomi-Fatile said: “Anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the killers should come forward and help.
“The sacrifices that security operatives make daily to ensure our safety must not be taken for granted. They put their lives on the line everyday to protect us, and it is our duty to support them.
“We must not allow the killers of our security operatives to go scot-free. We must all rise up and demand justice for the slain policemen.”
The PSNAFSA commiserated with the families of the slain policemen in particular and the Nigeria Police Force in general.
