LAGOS – Prince Mark Ebare is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of City Prince Awards Limited, a leading event and award management company in Nigeria.
He speaks with Daily Independent on his passion for the industry, the state of the industry in Nigeria and what young people need to do to thrive in the industry.
According to him, the event and award management industry in the country is thriving for people who know what to do and how to effectively use available resources to deliver results.
Ebare, who is an accountant by training, told Daily Independent that his passion for event management is driving him to new heights in the business.
He said that he has been in the business for 25 years and has made tremendous growth and development.
“City Prince Award Limited has grown over the years and I enjoy what I do and I have managed events for the big and mighty in society. The business has also afforded me the opportunity to meet important people in the country,” the entrepreneur told Daily Independent.
He said that he has received different awards because he has always delivered high quality to clients over the years, adding that this has made him to get referrals from different clients.

Speaking on the qualities that one needs to possess in order to thrive in industry, he said that one has to have passion for organizing events and be accommodating.
He stated that one has to be patient and have a listening ear to understand what specific clients need.
Ebare also underscored the importance of honesty and integrity, adding that event managers should be honest with clients and deliver according to agreements and schedules.
He also tasked event managers to be respectful of their clients, no matter their age. He frowned at people who take on jobs and are unable to deliver as and when due.
He argued that delivering high quality on schedule builds trust and makes clients come back and seek the services of the event manager.
He, however, charged event managers in the country not to use the difficult economic situation in the country to deliver shoddy jobs, adding that this will harm the industry and ruin its reputation.
The Chief Executive Officer of City Prince Award Limited argued that if event managers do a good job, they will get more through referrals.
He urged young people, who want to venture into the event management industry to learn the essentials of the trade from someone who has garnered expertise and experience in the industry, adding that they should get a good education and be patient.
He added that they should make sure that they have passion for the job before venturing into it.
