LAGOS – A human rights organisation, the International Human Rights Protection Service Florida, USA, Nigeria Chapter (IHRPS/F), has held a two-day training programme for right activists on the principles of human rights.
Speaking with Sunday Independent after the programme that was held in Abuja, Barrister Blessing Joseph, President, IHRPS/F, said the aim of the programme was to educate the executive council members on the fundamental principles of human rights.
She stressed that through the programme, the members were taught the relevance of human rights in corporate governance.
Barrister Afang said that through the programme the members and executives were provided with practical tools and strategies for integrating human rights into daily operations.
She said: “At the end of the training the executive council members were expected to train other members in their communities and states respectively.
The training, she added, was aimed at enhancing awareness, understanding, and application of human rights principles in our organisational operations and decision-making processes.
She informed that as part of the programme, the participants raised placards against food insecurity in Nigeria.
According to her, “We proceeded to have our campaign and rally against the menace of food insecurity in Nigeria.

“We had a press briefing proffering solutions, alerting the government and pressuring them to take bold steps on good policies that will mitigate the hardships on Nigerians.”
