LAGOS – The International Aviation College (IAC), Ilorin has graduated nine Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL) students and one rivate Pilot License (PPL) students, totaling 10 in all.
A statement by the college, said that the students were graduated on October 1, 2024.
The statement hinted that Dr. Mary Arinde, the Commissioner for Tertiary Education, on behalf of Kwara State Government decorated the graduands in line with aviation standards.
In her remarks Arinde commended Mal. AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, the Governor of Kwara State who doubles as the Visitor to the College for his support and assistance to the aviation college since the administration came onboard.
The commissioner also lauded Chairman, Governing Council and management of the college for doing their best possible with a view to moving the college to the next level.
She advised the college authorities to sustain the tempo in the best interest of the state and charged the new pilots to be good ambassadors of the college in their conducts.
In his comment, Mr. Mohammed Jibril, Registrar, IAC, on behalf of Alh. Ahmed Gobir, the Chairman, Governing Council of the college and Capt. Yakubu Okatahi, Rector of the college, expressed the institution’s profound gratitude and appreciation to Abdulrasaq and Arinde for their support and assistance towards the growth of the college.
Jibril, also expressed optimism that the college would continue to enjoy the State Government intervention in her critical areas of needs, while noting approvals given by Abdulrasaq such as procurement of a fairly used simulator and rehabilitation of the existing one, procurement of a brand new transformer to replace damaged ones, release of funds for foreign training of two aircraft maintenance engineers and a flight instructor among others.
He further assured that the college management would continue to justify the confidence and trust the State Government reposed in them.
He used the opportunity to thank the staff and students of the college for their support and cooperation.
He also urged the new pilots to be professional in the discharge of their duties and uphold ethics of their profession.
Besides, Mr. Sanni Shamsudeen, Bursar, IAC, equally lauded the governor Abdulrasaq and Arinde for their active support in the college at all times.
“The college is poised to continue to be centre of excellence in Aviation training,” he said.
Capt. Barau Mohammed, a Chief Flying Instructor from the Nigerian Aviation College (NCAT), Zaria who is Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) examiner who conducted final appraisal for the students, described the quality of the students that did the check ride ceremony as of international standards.
Mohammed stressed that the students could compete favourably with their counterparts anywhere in the world.
The nine CPL students were; Abdullahi Amir, Kuteyi Olakanmi, Mogaji Biliaminu and Jubril Sani Mohammed.
Others were Okuji Ogeri Niyan, Azodo Ikenna, Igwilo Michelle and Ezema Chidera, while Abbass Lamido is a Private Pilot License student.
