MINNA โ A former Minister of Information and National Orientation, Prof. Jerry Gana, has stressed the need for Nigerians to show love for one another and to dwell on issues unite rather than divisive remarks causing avoidable shedding of blood.
Prof. Gana spoke yesterday (Sunday), shortly after clising of a three-day Synod of the Anglican Church, Busu in Lavun Local Government Area of Niger state, reminding Nigerians that issues of religion should be a unifying force not divisive among religious bodies and leaders.
Gana who commended his community, Busu for the love and hospitality shown to guests and visitors irrespective of religious differences said, โI must thank Busu community for their hospitality, they have been very receptive to the guestsโ.
โI am extending my heart felt appreciation to all our brothers and sisters in Busu including the Muslims who have been very supportive. This is the spirit of Busu, we are together and that is what Nigeria needs, togethernessโ.
The former Minister who frowned at the way and manner some people taking other peopleโs lives in the name of religion said, โNo need to kill because of religion, rather let us use religion to promote unity and love for one anotherโ.
He reminded promoters of religious hatred that Nigeria is a circular state hence the need for religious leaders to use their different platforms to promote love and not hatred saying, โIf you kill because of religion, then you are psychic. You donโt know God, thatโs the truthโ.
โAnybody who knows God will love his fellow men and women. I like the spirit here, we have tremendous respect for each otherโ, Gana stated as he expressed gratitude to God for the epochal honour given to his hometown to host the Synod.
โI am too elated. The Christian community in Busu is a very small, but very dogged and committed. Our founding fathers were men and women of honour as well as our prayers answered. The foundation they laid is now manifesting and we are grateful to God for getting this honour to host the Synodโ.

On the state of the nation, the former Minister stated in clear terms that Nigerians have no reason being too poor because of abundant natural and human resources God has endowed the country with.
โNigeria is well endowed with abundant natural resources. We are too well endowed to be poor. Honestly, I am too angry with Nigerians. We are so rich, yet so poorโ.
Gana who seems to be blaming Nigerians for the current economic woes that have sent many citizens to their early grave said, โThe reason why we are poor is because we donโt do the right things in a sustained wayโ.
โGod hates all those who shed blood, whether you are a Christian or a Muslimโ, adding that, wherever blood is shed, there will be Godโs curse on the land.
He said, โWe should therefore come together, serve God, honour and love one another, work together and have productivity to move Niger and the nation generally forward. If you are a farmer, farm well, if you are a trader, trade wellโ.
