Award-winning Nollywood actress, fitness advocate, and humanitarian, Kate Henshaw, has taken on a new mantle of service as the Ambassador for the Lagos Food Bank Initiative (LFBI), Nigeria’s foremost hunger relief and nutrition-focused non-profit organisation.
The announcement, made on November 10, 2025, marks a significant step in LFBI’s drive to deepen its impact in the fight against hunger, malnutrition, and poverty across Nigeria.
Henshaw, one of Nigeria’s most respected film icons, brings over three decades of experience in the entertainment industry and a well-established record of philanthropy and public service. Beyond acting, she is widely known for her advocacy in public health, fitness, and youth empowerment, using her influence to promote wellness and community development initiatives across the country.
Speaking during her unveiling, Henshaw reaffirmed her lifelong passion for humanitarian work and her belief in collective responsibility.
“We all have a role to play in building a world where no one goes hungry,” she said. “I’m honoured to partner with the Lagos Food Bank Initiative to help empower communities, inspire generosity, and support families in need.”
The LFBI described Henshaw’s appointment as a timely and strategic addition to its leadership outreach, saying her voice and credibility will help amplify the organisation’s message.
“Kate Henshaw’s commitment to causes that uplift humanity is consistent with our mission,” the organisation stated. “Her passion for community service, wellness, and social impact reflects the very essence of what we stand for.”
Henshaw has long been recognised for her humanitarian efforts. She previously served as a Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations and various non-governmental organisations, advocating for healthcare, women’s rights, and youth inclusion. Her recent fitness campaigns and motivational programmes have also inspired thousands to embrace healthy living and social responsibility.
The Lagos Food Bank Initiative, established in 2016, has built a reputation for its targeted programmes in nutrition support, family farming, educational empowerment, and job placement. Through initiatives such as the Nutritious Meal Plan Intervention and Family Farming Project, it has provided food assistance and livelihood support to thousands of vulnerable households across Lagos and neighbouring states.
With Henshaw joining as ambassador, LFBI plans to intensify its outreach, mobilise more volunteers, and attract stronger partnerships from the private sector, development agencies, and civil society.
The collaboration positions LFBI as a model for impact-driven humanitarian work in West Africa, while reinforcing Henshaw’s enduring legacy as more than just a screen star, but a symbol of empathy, resilience, and service to humanity.
As gathered, not a few of her fans were unanimously of the view that as Nigeria continues to grapple with rising food insecurity, her new role is expected to inspire renewed public action and advocacy for a nation where no family goes hungry.
