Organisers of the maiden Lagos Motor Show, on Thursday, announced that all is now set for the staging of the first of its kind Motor Show held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos state.
Addressing pressmen at the Lounge in Maryland, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, Chairman and Chief Promoter of the maiden Lagos Motor Show, described the show as an exhibition that will showcase Modern, Classic, Vintage Cars, Eco-Friendly EVs, Robotics and autonomous vehicles, Electric –Tricycles and E-mobility.
Engr Adebayo explained that the event scheduled to take place on Friday 16 February and Saturday 17 February at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos will also feature an exhibition of innovation and developments in the auto industry such as the Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles, energy-efficient cars, Electric Vehicles and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) powered low-emission vehicles.
He said the show which will be an annual event will serve as an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, including car enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential buyers, offering brands the chance to connect with a broad range of demographics.
“The Show will offer an opportunity to interact with haulage, logistics, car hire companies, digital taxi companies, passenger transporters, financial institutions, Insurance, loans companies and other potential buyers and decision-makers,” he added.
According to him, the exhibition will be a double-edged purpose showcasing classic cars evoking ‘nostalgia’ and also highlighting the latest trends and innovations in the automotive industry.
He emphasised the old memories that have shaped the technologies of today also deserve attention and preservation amidst the generation of classic cars and electric cars today and tomorrow.
Explaining the rationale for the choice of TBS, the promoter of the Lagos Car Show, Adebayo said the complex is historic in the history of governance as it depicted the earlier years of the country after independence.
He disclosed that the show will receive over 2,000 visitors during the two days and will be chaired by His Royal Highness, HRH Barrister Mohammed Sanni Haliru Dantoro CFR. Kitoro IV. (Mai Borgu), The Emir of Borgu Kingdom, Niger State will be the Royal Father of the event.
“His Excellency the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Olusola Sanwolu will be the chief host, and the Executive Governors of Kwara States and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, His Excellency, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq will be the special guest of honour, other dignitaries expected at the event includes the Governors of Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Bauchi and Jigawa States.
“Also, expected at the assemblage and exhibition of automobiles of yesterday, today and autos of the future is Chief Olu Okeowo, Founder and Chairman of Gibraltar Constructions Company Limited, a Car enthusiast, among other dignitaries.
“The highly anticipated event in the Nigeria automotive calendar, and will provide corporate brands with unparalleled visibility among industry leaders, influencers, and potential customers. It will record a high number of visitors who are automobile buyers, decision-makers, motor enthusiasts, banks, insurance companies, small-scale auto entrepreneurs, representatives of foreign trade missions and multinational companies.”
He added that the show will feature a community of over 100 classic and vintage car collectors and enthusiasts, saying their collections will also be on display.
Furthermore, the other side attraction includes a Tech Theatre; a technology exhibition that will feature innovation, the Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles and other developments in the automotive industry, including Electric Vehicles, Electric Tricycles and gas-powered low-emission ECO-friendly vehicles.
Engr. Adebayo said the show is strictly a charitable venture, saying part of the proceeds from the event and activities will be donated to charitable causes.
