The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority has apprehended a trailer driver involved in a hit-and-run incident in the Anthony Oke area of the state heading towards Oshodi.
The LASTMA Director, Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department, Taofiq Adebayo, confirmed this in a statement on Monday in Lagos.
Adebayo said the driver, operating a trailer owned by Honeywell Flour Mill Plc (registration number JJJ 764 XV), was apprehended after hitting a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the expressway.
He added that the incident was near the Total Filling Station at Anthony Oke, inward Oshodi.
โThe incident, which occurred in the early morning hours, sparked significant concern among witnesses and commuters.
โThe pedestrian, who sustained a serious injury, including a broken left leg, was promptly attended to by personnel from the Lagos State Ambulance Service and transported to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment.
โLASTMA officials on duty at the time responded swiftly, pursuing the fleeing driver and apprehending him at Oshodi.
โHe has since been handed over to officers from Mosafejo Police Station for further investigation and prosecution,โ he said.
He noted that LASTMA remains steadfast in its commitment to ensuring the safety and security of all road users in Lagos.
He said that the agency would continue to collaborate closely with law enforcement agencies to bring traffic offenders to justice.
