Leeds United ended their five-match winless run in the Premier League with a 1-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Elland Road on Saturday.
Substitute Noah Okafor scored the decisive goal in the 79th minute to secure all three points for Daniel Farkeโs side and halt Tottenhamโs three-match winning streak.
The encounter was goalless at half-time, with both sides struggling to find a breakthrough before Leeds increased the pressure after the restart.
Okafor broke the deadlock after Harry Wilson helped create the opportunity from a throw-in. Wilson brought the ball down inside the penalty area and set up the Swiss forward, who took a touch before firing across Tottenham goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky into the bottom corner.
The goal was subjected to a Video Assistant Referee check over a possible handball by Wilson, but the referee allowed it to stand.
Tottenham, managed by Roberto De Zerbi, attempted to find an equaliser but could not break down Leedsโ defence.
Spurs came close through Conor Gallagher, whose second-half effort went narrowly wide, while Jan Paul van Heckeโs header from a corner was saved by Leeds goalkeeper James Trafford.
The defeat ended Tottenhamโs run of three consecutive league victories against Coventry City, Chelsea and Crystal Palace.
Leeds, who had gone five Premier League matches without a win before Saturdayโs encounter, secured their first victory since their 4-1 triumph over Newcastle United in September.
The result also gave Farkeโs side a significant boost ahead of the November international break.
