Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold has reportedly struck a deal to join Real Madrid in the summer. The England right-back is being pursued by the La Liga giants, with the Reds turning down a £20million approach from them earlier this month.
Alexander-Arnold is coming to the end of his contract at Anfield, with his current deal expiring in the summer.
And he is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with an overseas club if he chooses to call time on his career in England.
According to Spanish journalist Josep Pedrerol, Alexander-Arnold has closed a deal to move to the Bernabeu Stadium in June.
The journalist told El Chiringuito TV that there are still small details to iron out before the move can be finalised. But if things go smoothly, the 26-year-old will be plying his trade in the Spanish capital next season
And it isn’t out of the question that the transfer could be completed during the January transfer window, with Real prepared to pay between £29m and £33m to get the deal wrapped up immediately.
The Spanish media have been revelling in Alexander-Arnold’s potential move to Spain, with the defender regarded as one of the most talented players in Europe.
The blockbuster star has already helped Liverpool win the Premier League, Champions League and Club World Cup during his illustrious career and is also an FA Cup and two-time Carabao Cup winner.
He has continued to command column inches across a host of outlets in Spain in recent months, with his move to Madrid being hotly anticipated.
Marca have suggested that Alexander-Arnold’s mind is already made up over a switch to Real, with the publication reporting that the creative genius has already said yes to the 15-time European champions.
Real are hopeful that Liverpool’s owners will allow the player to join them before the end of the January window as the Reds will lose him for nothing at the end of the campaign anyway. And Los Blancos do not despair at the idea of putting forward a cash offer to prise him away from Anfield this month.
Real are biding their time before returning to the negotiating table and will find an appropriate moment to formalise a new proposal.
Alexander-Arnold has endured a tough few weeks and had a shocker against Manchester United at the start of the month after Real’s bid came to light. The ace has continued to be a key part of the Reds side under Arne Slot, however.
