The Chairmanship Aspirant in Etsako Central Local Government Area of Edo State, Hon Goodluck Momodu, has attributed Governor Monday Okpebholo’s New Telegraph Governor of the year to his sweeping reforms and strategic investment in the state education sector.
Momodu described the recognition as well-deserved and reflective of the purposeful leadership of the Okpebholo’s led administration.
In a statement he personally signed and made available to journalists on Sunday, Momodu said the award was an affirmation of Okpebholo’s visionary leadership, firm commitment to human capital development, and deliberate investment in education through the administration’s SHINE Agenda.
According to the Chairmanship Hopeful, the governor’s people-focused approach has repositioned the education sector within one year in office, with visible improvements in infrastructure, teacher recruitment, and access to quality learning.
He said, “This is a moment of pride for Edo people. In just one year, the governor has earned this recognition in education, and we are confident more honours will follow in other sectors,” Momodu said.
“I commend his visionary leadership and courage in driving practical governance in Edo State. It is exciting that the governor’s work in the education sector is being recognised.
“This award is a call to do more. It reflects the hard work and reforms implemented over the past year under the Okpebholo administration.”
Highlighting key milestones, Momodu noted that the administration had recruited over 5,000 teachers, renovated and upgraded public schools across the state, and introduced practical frameworks aimed at improving learning outcomes.
He added that the improved infrastructure and increased manpower had restored public confidence in government-owned schools.
“Our children now learn in more conducive environments, with more teachers in classrooms. The SHINE Agenda is delivering real value because it is people-focused,” he stated.
Momodu further expressed optimism that the administration would sustain its reform momentum and extend transformative policies to other critical sectors of the state’s economy.
Other governors recognised at the well-attended ceremony included Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State, Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State, Sheriff Oborevwori of Delta State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, and Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
