The Plateau Governor, Caleb Mutfwang, on Tuesday, said he will have a meeting with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the recent attacks carried out by terrorists in the state.

Mutfwang said this following a series of Christmas Eve attacks in the Bokkos and Barkin-Ladi Local Government Areas of Plateau state that have so far claimed many lives and displaced hundreds of people.

The governor reacting on X said he and the residents of Plateau have had to celebrate Christmas with a heavy heart due to unprovoked attacks that were unleashed on several of their communities.

“I will meet with the president today and give him accurate reports. The Army Headquarters has responded. The IG has also responded and more reinforcements are being sent,” he posted on X.

“Most of the communities attacked in Barkin Ladi share Borders with Bokkos Local Government. We have not less than 17 communities that were completely touched and brought down by these bandits and criminals.

“It has been a very terrifying Christmas for us on the Plateau. This particular set of attacks was well-coordinated with heavy weapons.

“The security agencies must do their work to be able to identify who are the sponsors of these attacks. We will push them to be able to unravel all those responsible for these attacks.”

Mutfwang admitted that until Plateau state and the security agencies cut off the supply in terms of sponsorship, they may never be able to see the end of this.

The governor has, however, urged everyone in the state to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activities for prompt security response.

He stressed that everyone in the state must stay united to defend their communities.

“Plateau is the home of Peace and Tourism and by God’s grace, it will remain so,” Mutfwang said.
