No fewer than six persons have lost their lives in a fatal road crash involving a truck, a commercial tricycle, and a mini-bus at the Ota Tollgate area.

The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, involved a truck loaded with groundnut oil, a tricycle popularly known as “Marwa,” and a mini-bus, also known as “Korope.” The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) confirmed that six lives (five males and a female ) were lost in the accident.

In a traffic alert issued shortly after the crash, TRACE stated that the accident significantly affected traffic flow in the area.

Emergency responders, including officials of the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and the Nigeria Police Force, were immediately deployed to the scene to manage the situation and restore normalcy.

According to an update by Cdr. Babatunde Akinbiyi, the TRACE P.R.O, injured victims were rescued and transported to the State Hospital, Ota, for medical attention, while the deceased are being moved to the Ifo State Mortuary.

Officials said efforts are ongoing to evacuate the wreckage, including the truck and other affected vehicles, from the roadway and shoulder to ease traffic congestion.

Authorities assured motorists that further updates would be provided as evacuation and traffic control operations continue.
